Heritage Collections’ WICE Awards Finalist
Caroline Babington, one of our Conservation Managers for the Parliamentary Art Collection, was a finalist in the Architectural Technology category for the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2023. Caroline works across a variety of artistic media to ensure works in the collection are kept safe for future generations. The finalist selection recognises her expertise working with 80 monumental historical wall paintings across the Palace of Westminster, part of our unique collections.
The awards have been running for 8 years. They represent the most prestigious event for celebrating the achievement of women in sectors across the construction and engineering sectors.
Caroline was joined by two other colleagues from UK Parliament. Joyce Chan-Schoof, Parliament’s Sustainability Lead and Architect, won in the Environment and Sustainability category. Charlotte Claughton, Senior Project Leader at UK Parliament, was also a finalist in the Project Manager category.
All three received trophies for their extraordinary achievement. These shortlists are testament to the innovation and expertise of our staff in their respective sectors.
Caroline explained:
It was such an honour to be nominated for this award, and I am very grateful to my team and colleagues for the support and encouragement to do this. I found it a fantastic opportunity to deep dive into what I have been doing in my career, and it certainly fired up some new ideas. Being with so many inspirational women was a real privilege and truly motivating. One of the highlights of course was being nominated alongside Charlotte and Joyce and having the chance to get to know them too.
