Full-length white marble sculpture of a white man in middle age with short, thick, curly hair and long sideburns. He is seated and gazes down towards a tablet in his left hand, on which he holds an architectural drawing. He holds a piece of chalk in his right hand down at his side. A scroll of papers rests on the floor between his feet. The man is simply dressed in a shirt and blazer, and has a large cloak draped around him. The subject's name is carved in gold on the front of the base of the sculpture and the artist's name is carved onto the side. "London. 1865." is carved beneath the sculptor's name. The statue is situated in the Palace of Westminster and stands against a background of decorative plasterwork.
