A full size statue of a man, Oliver Cromwell, in bronze on a large stone pillar with a bronze lion at the base lyng on a stone base. The statue shows a man with shoulder-length hair in a plain tunic over thigh-high boots holding a long sword in his right hand, a book in his left hand and a hat under his left arm. The tunic has a high round collar over a round armour collar and winged shoulders to the long sleves. It has a wide belt across the body from the right soulder over a fabric-style sash. The boots are loose and turn over slightly at the top and have square toes and decorative styling at the ankle and stand on a bronze base on top of the stone pillar. The pillar is made of stone blocks and is hexagonal in shape with Oliver Cromwell's name and dates incised in black. Below the pillar is a larger base of cream stone with four fan-shaped finials. On this base lies a large bronze lion with his head turned to the front. The statue is pictured in a courtyard in front of the Palace of Westminster.
