A large bronze sculpture of a statesman, standing with his right arm outstretched before him while his left arm is bent with his hand touching his ribs. He has shoulder-length curly hair and holds his head up straight, but his gaze is lowered. He wears a long draping cloak which falls over his right shoulder but is held open by his left hand, revealing a waistcoat. One of the buttons is undone, allowing the waistcoat to pop open at his midriff. He also wears a knee-length coat with large buttons and pockets at the sides and buckled shoes. He stands on a low, square plinth on which his name, William Pitt, Earl of Chatham is engraved. The sculpture is placed in front of a stone wall decorated by a blind, pointed arch with two carvings at the top; one of the English rose and another of an iron gate with chains on either side and topped by a crown, also known as the Portcullis.
