A larger than life-size marble statue of William Pitt, standing with his right arm outstretched and his palm facing upwards as if addressing a crowd. His left arm is folded in front of his chest as he looks out to his left. His mouth slightly open, gaze which lifts upwards and a boss-like fold above his eyebrows give him a slightly puzzled or interested look, as if he is watching something in the distance. He wears the richly decorated robes of the Chancellor of the exchequer which drape to his feet and stands with his left foot in front of the other, indicating that he is leaning forwards. He wears square-toed shoes with a rectangular buckle on the front and stands on an octagonal shaped plinth with the name 'Chatham' engraved in gold leaf.
