Colour painting of the central section of a larger artwork. An older man with a bushy white beard stands on a grassy mound holding an open book in his right hand. His left hand is raised gesturing as if preaching. He wears gold, pink and blue vestments, a blue and gold mitre, traditional religious headwear, and brown shoes, and carries a red staff. A white halo is behind his head. Next to him is the arm and sleeve of a figure that stands beyond the edge of the artwork. Behind him is an orange and cream pattern of shell motifs. The background of the image is a light cream canvas colour.
