Round clock in a mahogany frame, with a white face. Numbers are in Roman numerals. A border around the dial contains thin lines for minute markers and a small arrow behind each number. The hour hand has an arrow shaped like a droplet. The face has a crown just under the 12 o'clock position with a VR monogram, under which is written 1853. Just above the 6 o'clock position is written Dutton and under it Fleet Street. There is a small hinge on the right hand side by the 3 o'clock and a small catch on the left by the 9 o'clock. It is photographed against a plain wall
